Hence, past research focused mainly on compression and modelling of these data, however, few papers have explicitly addressed the way in which humans perceive these compressed data. We analyzed human gaze information to determine appropriate texture statistics. These statistics were then exploited in a pilot illumination and view direction dependent data compression algorithm. Our results showed that taking into account local texture variance can increase compression of current methods more than twofold, while preserving original realistic appearance and allowing fast data reconstruction.
<action target="WRD"> <ARLID>cav_un_auth*0263643</ARLID> <name>20th International Conference on Pattern Recognition ICPR 2010</name> <place>Istanbul</place> <dates>23.08.2010-26.08.2010</dates> <country>TR</country> </action> <reportyear>2011</reportyear> <RIV>BD</RIV> <permalink>http://hdl.handle.net/11104/0187561</permalink> <unknown tag="mrcbT16-q">50</unknown> <unknown tag="mrcbT16-s">0.420</unknown> <unknown tag="mrcbT16-y">10.52</unknown> <unknown tag="mrcbT16-x">0.85</unknown> <arlyear>2010</arlyear> <unknown tag="mrcbU56"> 10.1109/ICPR.2010.217 </unknown> <unknown tag="mrcbU63"> cav_un_epca*0346559 20th International Conference on Pattern Recognition 978-1-4244-7542-1 1051-4651 862 865 Los Alamitos IEEE Computer Society CPS 2010 </unknown> </cas_special> </bibitem>
