We present the first N2O concentration and isotope data for porewaters of ombrotrophic, mountain-top bogs. Our two study sites, situated in the Czech Republic at elevations higher than 1000m, have been affected by atmospheric N pollution for more than 100 years. In recent decades, the northeastern site KB received over 30kgNha-1yr-1via atmospheric deposition, the southwestern site BS was 3 times less polluted. Both peat bogs were surrounded by defoliated, dead spruce stands. We hypothesized that elevated nitrate (NO3 -) inputs in rain-fed bogs may cause sizeable N2O emissions. Porewater N2O concentrations in the studied ombrotrophic bogs were 400-800 times higher, compared to fens in nearby Bavaria (Germany).
<reportyear>2016</reportyear> <RIV>DD</RIV> <num_of_auth>11</num_of_auth> <inst_support> RVO:67985556 </inst_support> <permalink>http://hdl.handle.net/11104/0243122</permalink> <cooperation> <ARLID>cav_un_auth*0312914</ARLID> <name>Czech geological survey</name> <country>CZ</country> </cooperation> <cooperation> <ARLID>cav_un_auth*0298173</ARLID> <name>University of Bayreuth</name> <country>DE</country> </cooperation> <cooperation> <ARLID>cav_un_auth*0295059</ARLID> <institution>JU</institution> <name>Jihočeská univerzita v Českých Budějovicích</name> <country>CZ</country> <unknown tag="mrcbC63-f">České Budějovice</unknown> </cooperation> <confidential>S</confidential> <unknown tag="mrcbT16-e">SOILSCIENCE</unknown> <unknown tag="mrcbT16-f">5.041</unknown> <unknown tag="mrcbT16-g">0.759</unknown> <unknown tag="mrcbT16-h">9.5</unknown> <unknown tag="mrcbT16-i">0.0351</unknown> <unknown tag="mrcbT16-j">1.447</unknown> <unknown tag="mrcbT16-k">27891</unknown> <unknown tag="mrcbT16-s">2.302</unknown> <unknown tag="mrcbT16-4">Q1</unknown> <unknown tag="mrcbT16-5">3.483</unknown> <unknown tag="mrcbT16-6">332</unknown> <unknown tag="mrcbT16-7">Q1</unknown> <unknown tag="mrcbT16-B">95.733</unknown> <unknown tag="mrcbT16-C">95.6</unknown> <unknown tag="mrcbT16-D">Q1*</unknown> <unknown tag="mrcbT16-E">Q1</unknown> <unknown tag="mrcbT16-P">95.588</unknown> <arlyear>2015</arlyear> <unknown tag="mrcbU14"> 84911948039 SCOPUS </unknown> <unknown tag="mrcbU34"> 000350524700006 WOS </unknown> <unknown tag="mrcbU63"> cav_un_epca*0257602 Soil Biology and Biochemistry 0038-0717 1879-3428 Roč. 81 č. 1 2015 48 57 Elsevier </unknown> </cas_special> </bibitem>
