They always carefully observe harmony of color and body shape to obtain desired visual impression. This paper studies to what extent anisotropic appearance improves a visual impression of a car body beyond a standard isotropic one. To address this challenge, we ran several psychophysical studies identifying the proper alignment of an anisotropic axis over a car body. We have shown that subjects preferred an anisotropy axis orthogonal to car body orientation and that the majority of subjects found the anisotropic appearance more visually appealing than the isotropic one.
<action target="WRD"> <ARLID>cav_un_auth*0363675</ARLID> <name>The Sixth Annual Eurographics Workshop on Material Appearance Modeling</name> <dates>20180601</dates> <unknown tag="mrcbC20-s">20180601</unknown> <place>Karlsruhe</place> <country>DE</country> </action> <RIV>BD</RIV> <FORD0>20000</FORD0> <FORD1>20200</FORD1> <FORD2>20205</FORD2> <reportyear>2019</reportyear> <num_of_auth>2</num_of_auth> <presentation_type> PR </presentation_type> <inst_support> RVO:67985556 </inst_support> <permalink>http://hdl.handle.net/11104/0286551</permalink> <unknown tag="mrcbC61"> 1 </unknown> <confidential>S</confidential> <arlyear>2018</arlyear> <unknown tag="mrcbU14"> SCOPUS </unknown> <unknown tag="mrcbU24"> PUBMED </unknown> <unknown tag="mrcbU34"> WOS </unknown> <unknown tag="mrcbU56"> PDF 2MB </unknown> <unknown tag="mrcbU63"> cav_un_epca*0493079 EG MAM 2018: Eurographics 2018 Workshop on Material Appearance Modeling Workshop on Material Appearance Modeling 978-3-03868-055-0 2309-5059 Goslar The Eurographics Association 2018 </unknown> </cas_special> </bibitem>
