Tento článek je věnován třem všestranně nadaným osobnostem, které považujeme za průkopníky statistiky ve vědách o člověku. Konkrétně jimi jsou Adolphe Quetelet, Florence Nightingaleová a Francis Galton. Článek se zamýšlí nejen nad jejich přínosem pro statistiku v širším kontextu věd o člověku, a také o hlubších cílech a filosofickém pozadí jejich statistického uvažování. Statistical methods started to appear systematically within the science of man in the course of the 19th century. This paper is devoted to three universally gifted personalities, which can be considered as pioneers of statistics in the science of man. Particularly, these are Adolphe Quetelet, Florence Nightingale, and Francis Galton. The paper reflects not only their contribution to statistics within a broader context of the science of man, but also their deeper aims together with a philosophical background of their statistical reasoning.
