Using an analogy with probability distributions, we represent these approximations in the form of compositional models. As no theoretical apparatus similar to probabilistic information theory exists for belief functions, the problems arise not only in connection with the design of algorithms seeking the optimal approximations but even in connection with a criterion comparing two different approximations. With this respect, the application of the analogy with probability theory fails. Therefore, the paper suggests the employment of simple heuristics easily applicable to real-life problems.
<action target="WRD"> <ARLID>cav_un_auth*0414314</ARLID> <name>ECSQARU 2021 : Symbolic and Quantitative Approaches to Reasoning with Uncertainty</name> <dates>20210921</dates> <unknown tag="mrcbC20-s">20210924</unknown> <place>Praha</place> <country>CZ</country> </action> <RIV>BB</RIV> <FORD0>10000</FORD0> <FORD1>10100</FORD1> <FORD2>10102</FORD2> <reportyear>2022</reportyear> <num_of_auth>2</num_of_auth> <presentation_type> PR </presentation_type> <inst_support> RVO:67985556 </inst_support> <permalink>http://hdl.handle.net/11104/0323626</permalink> <confidential>S</confidential> <unknown tag="mrcbT16-q">499</unknown> <unknown tag="mrcbT16-s">0.427</unknown> <unknown tag="mrcbT16-y">21.58</unknown> <unknown tag="mrcbT16-x">1.08</unknown> <unknown tag="mrcbT16-3">84158</unknown> <unknown tag="mrcbT16-4">Q2</unknown> <arlyear>2021</arlyear> <unknown tag="mrcbU14"> SCOPUS </unknown> <unknown tag="mrcbU24"> PUBMED </unknown> <unknown tag="mrcbU34"> WOS </unknown> <unknown tag="mrcbU56"> pdf </unknown> <unknown tag="mrcbU63"> cav_un_epca*0546852 Symbolic and Quantitative Approaches to Reasoning with Uncertainty. 16th European Conference, ECSQARU 2021 Proceedings Springer 2021 Cham 354 366 978-3-030-86771-3 Lecture Notes in Computer Science 12897 0302-9743 </unknown> <unknown tag="mrcbU67"> Vejnarová J. 340 </unknown> <unknown tag="mrcbU67"> Wilson N. 340 </unknown> </cas_special> </bibitem>
