Článek populární formou seznamuje s vědecko-výzkumnou činností v Ústavu teorie informace a automatizace AV ČR (ÚTIA). Jsou v něm uvedeny hlavní směry výzkumu, aplikační oblasti a přehled nejvýznamnějších výsledků za poslední 3 roky. Je zdůrazněn význam ústavu pro vědy o řízení a informační vědy, zejména pro obory spadající pod vědeckou disciplinu umělá inteligence. |

The article popularly informs about research and development activity in the Institute of Information Theory and Automation (UTIA). It introduces the main research aims, application areas and the most important achievements reached during the last 3 years. Significance of the Institute for the control and information sciences, namely for branches of the scientific field Artificial Inteligence is pointed out. |
