abstract (eng) We discuss the paper [M. Gobbino and R.S. Simon, How many times can a function be iterated?, ArXiv:0901.3230v2, 2011] where the main problem is formulated as follows: Let C be a closed subset of a topological space X and f a continuous map from C to X with the property that the boundary of C is mapped to C. How many times can we iterate f? The talk summarizes the known results, examples, open problems and applications.
