Description:
Conservation biologists very often have to work with common language expressions to assess some biological objects (i.e. population, species, community, ecosystem etc.) for common practice of nature conservation. The main problem of the biological assessment is a transformation of quantitative data to vague language expression (e.g. ?common ? rare?, ?endangered ? not endangered?) especially in cases where more quantitative and qualitative characteristics are combined. We offer to solve this problem using modern mathematical approach ? fuzzy modeling. We demonstrate a benefit of the method with example of dragonflies (Odonata).
